Perhaps you can be like me and many other people who frantically hate sunlight getting inside our homes. Your furniture, curtains and decorations become faded because of their exposure to sunlight. Of course there is no way you can control the coming of summer such that you cannot stop the sunlight peeping into your room. But then, with the right window treatment you could safely say that no problems are left unsolved.

One of the trendy window treatments is the blinds. Although these had been in use for decades, the innovative designs make them seem like new. They are no longer the bland types, instead they come in different colors - yellow, red, orange, being opted in many homes to give a happy and modern aesthetic effect.

In the past, blinds were installed to give privacy to the residents. Today, these blinds do more than this simple task. There are fabrics that were used to give solar protection. Thus it would be good-bye to fading fabrics, furniture and flooring. There are kinds that block the heat so that even without turning the air-conditioner on, a certain level of coolness is felt inside the abode. The roller blinds are the type that protects your indoor property from heat and light. This gives a neat appeal to the window. There are block-out roller blinds whose purpose is to completely block the light. For more festive atmosphere, choose fabrics that are bright in color and patterns. The vertical blinds are usually used in offices as these are ideal for high windows. The Venetian blinds are filters of the light. You can totally deprive your home with sunlight or you can even pull the blinds up to allow the entry of maximum light. The modern trend is the multi-colored slats of panels. There are also Venetian blinds that sit on floorboards. Roman blinds are the chosen variants for big windows. You can draw it up and you will have an orderly stack at the top frame. This makes it decorative in nature. The Kyoto or panel system blinds are wider that the Venetian counterparts. You can maneuver each panel separately. This allows you to alternate your panels in accordance to the demand of the season - heavier materials for winter and lighter fabric in summer.

There are different ways to treat your windows. Aside from these five kinds of blinds, you also have different styles of curtains and varied types of shutters. Whichever you choose, you would know that their purpose is not only protection against light; they give a different kind of aesthetic appeal to your window.
